KnowBe4 - Exactly Why Is Replying to Phishing Attacks A Really Bad Idea?

PhishLabs warns that replying to a phishing email, even if you know it’s a scam, can lead to further attacks. Most phishing campaigns are automated and replying to them puts you on a scammer’s radar. PhishLabs stresses that these people are criminals, and that they can be vindictive or even dangerous. There are several operational security-related reasons why replying to these emails is a bad idea.

Krebs - NY Charges First American Financial for Massive Data Leak

In May 2019, KrebsOnSecurity broke the news that the website of mortgage title insurance giant First American Financial Corp. had exposed approximately 885 million records related to mortgage deals going back to 2003. On Wednesday, regulators in New York announced that First American was the target of their first ever cybersecurity enforcement action in connection with the incident, charges that could bring steep financial penalties.
