Facebook Work-From-Home “Job” Posting Scam Goes the Extra Mile to Scam Victims

A new job posting scam found by IT security company Qualysys is focused on capturing victim’s identity details, accessing victim’s Facebook accounts, and committing fraud.

In this new scam, legitimate Facebook advertising is used to post fake work-from-home job ads from several companies. As with most of these scams, victims are directed to a third-party messaging app and are asked to sign a realistic-looking employment contract.

Krebs - NY Charges First American Financial for Massive Data Leak

In May 2019, KrebsOnSecurity broke the news that the website of mortgage title insurance giant First American Financial Corp. had exposed approximately 885 million records related to mortgage deals going back to 2003. On Wednesday, regulators in New York announced that First American was the target of their first ever cybersecurity enforcement action in connection with the incident, charges that could bring steep financial penalties.
