SBS CyberSecurity - Dissecting the Marriott Data Breach Response

Another week goes by, and we have absolutely no shortage of breach-related news. This week’s top story focuses on one of the largest breaches we have seen today, impacting the Marriott-owned Starwood hotel chain. While Marriott’s breach notification was fairly standard, its response has been heavily criticized since its release, and for good reason.

The Hacker News - Phishing Campaign Hits 80+ Orgs Using SimpleHelp and ScreenConnect RMM Tools

An active phishing campaign has been observed targeting multiple vectors since at least April 2025, with legitimate Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) software as a way to establish persistent remote access to compromised hosts. The activity, codenamed VENOMOUS#HELPER, has impacted over 80 organizations, most of which are in the U.S., according to Securonix.
