KnowBe4 - Brunswick Church Falls For Phishing Scam Of Almost $2 Million

Staff at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Brunswick say the church was scammed out of nearly $2 million. The church said a phishing email led it to believe that a construction firm doing renovation work at the church had changed its bank account. The news comes one week after St. Ambrose had reopened for Easter following its four-months-long, $5.5 million renovation.

Krebs - NY Charges First American Financial for Massive Data Leak

In May 2019, KrebsOnSecurity broke the news that the website of mortgage title insurance giant First American Financial Corp. had exposed approximately 885 million records related to mortgage deals going back to 2003. On Wednesday, regulators in New York announced that First American was the target of their first ever cybersecurity enforcement action in connection with the incident, charges that could bring steep financial penalties.
