KnowBe4 - Vacation Dream Home Phishing Nightmare (but with a Happy Ending)

Mike Malone and his wife found the vacation condo of their dreams in Florida. They were in touch with a real estate agent who was handling the deal when suddenly their condo purchase turned into a nightmare.

The Malones received what appeared to be a legitimate email from their real estate broker requesting that they transfer nearly $500,000 to a bank account so that they could close on the purchase. And they transferred the funds.

Krebs - NY Charges First American Financial for Massive Data Leak

In May 2019, KrebsOnSecurity broke the news that the website of mortgage title insurance giant First American Financial Corp. had exposed approximately 885 million records related to mortgage deals going back to 2003. On Wednesday, regulators in New York announced that First American was the target of their first ever cybersecurity enforcement action in connection with the incident, charges that could bring steep financial penalties.
