US-CERT - North Korean Malicious Cyber Activity

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have identified Trojan malware variants—referred to as TYPEFRAME—used by the North Korean government. The U.S. Government refers to malicious cyber activity by the North Korean government as HIDDEN COBRA.

US-CERT encourages users and administrators to review Malware Analysis Report (MAR) 10135536-12 and the US-CERT page on HIDDEN COBRA - North Korean Malicious Cyber Activity for more information.

Krebs - NY Charges First American Financial for Massive Data Leak

In May 2019, KrebsOnSecurity broke the news that the website of mortgage title insurance giant First American Financial Corp. had exposed approximately 885 million records related to mortgage deals going back to 2003. On Wednesday, regulators in New York announced that First American was the target of their first ever cybersecurity enforcement action in connection with the incident, charges that could bring steep financial penalties.
